Description: Director of the National Institute of Administration Vu Quoc Thong writes a brief opinion piece on the impact of foreign interests in Vietnam. Thong discusses the clash of cultures and religions that made the establishment of a Western-style government difficult for the Vietnamese people, and he goes on to discuss the ways in which the Michigan State University Vietnam Advisory Group and other parties can forge positive working relationships with the Vietnamese government.
