Basic Search

Basic Search conducts a keyword search over words included in the Title, Creator, Description, Subject, and Transcript fields of materials in the repository.

Basic Search works best for whole words. It is not case sensitive, so the search terms can be entered in upper or lower case.

Multi-word Basic Searches
Entering more than one word in the Basic Search box results in a search where ALL words in the query are present in ANY of the Basic Search fields. A search for Wesley Fishel will return records where both "Wesley" AND "Fishel" appear in the Title OR Creator OR Description OR Subject OR Transcript field.

Advanced Search

Advanced Search allows users to search for words and phrases in the Title, Creator, Description, Subject, and Transcript fields. Users can build complex searches by combining terms and phrases in multiple search boxes.

Entering more than one word in an Advanced Search box results in a search where ALL words in the query are present in the selected field.

Combining Advanced Searches
Entering a single term or phrase in more than one search box results in a search where ALL words added to the first box are present in the first field AND ALL words added to the second box are present in the second field.

A search for Wesley Fishel in Creator and economic development in Transcript will only return records where both "Wesley" AND "Fishel" appear in Creator AND "economic" AND "development" occur in the Transcript field.
