Protestantism

The origins of Vietnamese Protestantism date to the activities of French, British and American missionaries in the early twentieth century. Most Protestant missionaries in Vietnam left or went south during the First Indochina War. During the era of the Republic of Vietnam, American Protestant missionaries were active in the country, particularly in ethnic minority upland areas. Since the end of the war, Protestantism in Vietnam has continued to grow despite regular state limits on religious activity.
